The Scholar Strike is a collective action by academics in Canada and the United States in support of anti-racism movements and against police violence directed at Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/
For two days on 9–10 September 2020, scholars are being invited to pause all teaching and administrative duties and to participate in the labour action in whatever ways they are able. A series of public digital teach-ins have been organized and an overview of the programme can be found at https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/quick-program-overview/
We support colleagues – faculty, instructors, librarians, staff, and students – who chose to and are able to participate in the Scholars Strike. We are in process of contacting examining committee members of MA and PhD students scheduled to defend on these two days to discuss options. We ask students and professors to please confirm or check plans for courses scheduled on these two days.
